I was working for two years with the Mennonite Voluntary Service (Paraguay), and for personal reasons I decided to terminate and travel to a different country. But I needed God’s direction, just as the water needs a place to flow. My favorite verse is Psalm 32:8 which says: “I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you and watch over you.”

And it was true. I returned to my country, and God was there to give me direction.

Back in Paraguay, I started working in a school where I had the opportunity to sign a contract because the director appreciated my work. Just a week before I would have signed, I got to hear that Alto Refugio needed a volunteer, and that’s how I began working in this place in April.

I am with the children, and I consider it a privilege to give them the loving attention that they need so much. For me, serving others with all my heart is a blessing.
